Hoja Verde Roses
Hoja Verde is a family business. It has been since 1997. Hoja Verde is all about growing quality roses. The three plantations of Hoja Verde are located in the area ‘Cayambe’ in Ecuador. This is a highly convenient location for growing roses. This is because of the position; around the equator and 2800 meters above sea-level. This insures high light intensity and cool nights. This makes the colouring of the roses more intense, the heads bigger and stems more thick, compared to the same variety grown in Holland or Africa.
Hoja Verde now has over 120 varieties and is still in great development. The power of Hoja Verde is that they are capable to grow the same quality and quantity roses all year round. Before the roses are being transported, a strict selection takes place. Crooked stems, different sized heads and roses with the wrong ripeness will not find their way to the airport.
Hoja Verde is also a social responsible company, always considering the environment and our natural sources. At our plantations only work local people who have a better life because of that. The facilities availabled by sustainable projects for our employees are: medical care, financing studies, supermarket and computer facilities, pediatrician for employees children, housing development and a good information about the company and social & cultural aspects.
Hoja Verde has a variety of certificates: Flor del Ecuador, Fair Label Organization (FLO), ISO 9001:2000 and BASC (antismugling certification).
